4 Things to Know about Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Orlando’s popular Halloween Horror Nights event is returning for its 27th year – here are 4 things to know about Halloween Horror Nights.

4 Things to Know About Halloween Horror NightsIt is a separately ticketed event

Halloween Horror Nights, unlike many of Universal Orlando’s other seasonal events, is not included in regular theme park admission. You must have the proper admission specifically for the Halloween Horror Nights event in order to attend.

It’s incredibly popular

The crowds that assemble for Halloween Horror Nights can be massive, especially on Friday and Saturday nights in October. This often results in multi-hour lines for the event’s haunted mazes. If you are visiting at all, and especially if you are only visiting for one night, I strongly recommend purchasing Express Pass. The Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass allows you to enter an express queue for the event’s mazes, and will cut down your wait times significantly. One of the most important things to know about Halloween Horror nights if you’re attending is that, without Express Pass, it’s extremely difficult if not impossible to see everything in one night.

It’s recommended for age 13 and older

Halloween Horror Nights is not Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – it is an event that is designed to scare you, and features content not suitable for younger guests. While Universal Orlando Resort technically does not enforce an age requirement for the event, they do strongly recommend that visiting guests be 13 or older, and there are no refunds if you leave the event early because a younger guest was too frightened.

Universal Studios Florida closes early for this event

Even if you’re not actually planning to visit Halloween Horror Nights, the event is something to be aware of when visiting in the fall because it will affect your plans. Universal Studios Florida typically closes around 5PM on event nights, which on some weeks in October can include most of the week (Wednesday through Sunday night). Islands of Adventure remains open longer and does not participate in the event, and CityWalk’s restaurants and entertainment are open to all guests as usual.
