Christmas has finally arrived at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Orlando for its first year! There are several new experiences for Harry Potter fans to enjoy. Here are 5 things to love about Christmas at the Wizarding World.
Decorations in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley
Both areas of the Wizarding World have been decked in festive decorations that thoughtfully match the theme of the shops they adorn. Guests can see firework garlands outside Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, feathers woven into the wreaths outside the Owl Post, and decorations made out of printing press letters on the doorstep of the Daily Prophet. The decorations are all lit up at night, but I recommend taking time to look at them during the day when you can notice all the details.
While all of the Wizarding World’s holiday decorations are lit up at night, the most light-filled display is definitely the London Waterfront. The trees are completely wrapped in lights, and garlands on the fences and buildings shine brightly along with Christmas trees in on balconies and outside shops. Everywhere you look you’ll find beautiful lights – except for 12 Grimmauld Place.
Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees is our favorite show in the Wizarding World, and for the holidays it gets festive with original songs about holidays in the Wizarding World, including Nothing Like a Holiday Spell and My Baby Gave Me a Hippogriff for Christmas.
The Frog Choir at Hogsmeade also get festive for the season with a couple of traditional Christmas carols as well as original songs about Christmas in the Wizarding World, including Christmas at Hogwarts and I Cast a Spell on Father Christmas.
The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts
The biggest new entertainment addition for the Wizarding World’s holiday celebration is The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts, a projection-based show that takes place on Hogwarts Castle in the evenings. The 8-minute show runs every twenty minutes after dusk and depicts gorgeous scenes of Christmas decorations at Hogwarts, the magic of the Yule Ball, the transformation of Hogwarts into a castle of ice, and more. The show is quite popular and the viewing area reaches capacity quickly, so guests may need to wait for the next show when arriving.
There’s plenty to enjoy during Christmas at the Wizarding World, as well as a variety of other fun holiday events at Universal Orlando.
