We always enjoy a visit to Marvel Super Hero Island when we’re at Universal Orlando, and at the very least we always love a ride on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. Often times, though, we want to visit this area for more than just the rides. Here are out favorite non-ride things about Marvel Super Hero Island.
For fans that want to meet their favorite superheroes, this is the place to do it. Several times throughout the day guests can find a variety of Marvel Superheroes meeting in the area, typically including Captain America, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Cyclops, and Spider-Man. You can find times for their meets on park maps, and typically the heroes will all roll out on motorcycles at the same time and then disperse for their individual meets.
These meets can be fairly informal, and while they will usually have a Team Member with them to take photos, we’ve found this isn’t always the case. The only character that has a more formalized meet is Spider-Man, who meets in a spot at the Marvel Alterniverse store with a designated queue. He also has a cool photo background you can get when you purchase your photo.
Guests can also have fun interacting with a few Marvel villains prowling the area. Guests can usually spot Dr. Doom and the Green Goblin roaming around. As mentioned, the meets for these are often quite informal, so it can be a great opportunity for interaction, though you will definitely want to have your own camera with you.
Marvel Super Hero Island is also a great place for some nerdy shopping sprees. You can find just about everything Spider-Man related in the gift shop outside The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man attraction. For other Avengers and Marvel superhero favorites, you can also check out the huge Marvel Alterniverse store for apparel, toys, collectibles, and other fun stuff. Comic fans can also get in some comic book store time at, well, the Comic Store, which sells a variety of comic books and collectibles. One of our new favorites is also the area’s new superhero Boutique, which features handbags, wallets, hats, dresses, and more themed to favorite superheroes. It’s an especially good place to find merchandise for Deadpool, Spider Gwen, Ms. Marvel, and other currently popular heroes, as well as the classics.
We also love checking out the fun Easter eggs and hidden references in the area. Be sure to take a look around as you walk through Marvel Super Hero Island. Of course there are the larger-than-life super heroes engaged in comic book-style battle all around you, but there are also some fun references to lesser-known heroes on store signs and newspaper racks.
