Finnegan’s Bar & Grill is a table-service restaurant in the New York section of Universal Studios Florida. There are only a couple of table-service dining options in the park, and Finnegan’s is one of the most affordable table-service restaurants in either of Universal’s theme parks.
While many of Universal’s table-service restaurants do not have such high demand that reservations are required (especially when we were visiting in late September), I did go ahead and make a reservation the night before to cut down on waiting. There were quite a few people waiting for tables when we arrived, and after checking in we waited only a couple of minutes before we were seated. We got a nice spot next to the window where we could see the Blues Brothers show going on across the street.
The interior is about what you would expect from an Irish pub-style restaurant, and so is the menu. Here you can find corned beef & cabbage, bangers & mash, shepherd’s pie, and a selection of salads and sandwiches. Almost all entrees are under $20, and many are under $15.
For an appetizer our server recommended the Potato & Onion Web, which is quite a large mass of thinly sliced potatoes and onions battered and fried. It was crispy and great for a fried food craving (though there was way too much for the two of us to finish). They also bring out some yummy Irish soda bread before the meal.
I ordered the Corned Beef Sandwich. I’m a big fan of corned beef, and while I liked the sandwich, the corned beef didn’t quite have the flavor that I usually expect from it – it seemed a tad bland. It was fine with the addition of some Thousand Island dressing, though. My sister got the Kilkenny Pot Pie, which she enjoyed.
Finnegan’s Bar & Grill is a solid and affordable table-service option in the parks, and even if you’re not in the mood for a meal they also have a walk-up bar, and on some evenings feature live music.
