While the new Star Wars-themed land won’t be opening at Disneyland until 2019, there’s still Star Wars fun and entertainment for Star Wars fans to enjoy. Check out what Star Wars fans have to see at Disneyland.
Star Wars Launch Bay
Located on the first floor of the former Innoventions building, this area has plenty to do for Star Wars fans. Here you can meet Chewbacca and Darth Vader (there’s separate lines for each of them), and you may also see roaming characters such as Boba Fett and Jawas. The area also has some great replica props from the Star Wars saga, a fun Mos Eisley cantina photo op, and plenty of tempting merchandise. For those that need to brush up on their Star Wars knowledge for the next film, there’s also a brief movie that can help you do just that.
Jedi Training Academy
Whether you’re just spectating or have young Padawans participating, the Jedi Training Academy is a fun interactive show for followers of the Force. Guests age 4-12 can sign up to learn the basics of wielding a (training) lightsaber before they take on the Dark Side in the form of either Darth Vader or the Seventh Sister from Star Wars Rebels. Same-day sign-up is required, and guests should sign up as early as possible.
Hyperspace Mountain *for a limited time*
As part of the Season of the Force celebration at Disneyland, Space Mountain received a Star Wars-themed overlay that turned it into Hyperspace Mountain. This version puts guests in the middle of an X-wing battle. Disneyland has announced that Space Mountain will return to its classic version on June 1, so there is a limited amount of time to experience Hyperspace Mountain.
Fans of Star Wars also won’t want to miss out on Star Tours, a 3D simulator ride that takes guests on an adventure to a galaxy far, far away. The ride has a rotating sequence of different destinations, so you’ll likely see a different planet each time you ride.
